Tidbits of Information
About Me...
My first name is Stephanie and I live in San
Luis Obispo with my
husband and five-year-old son. I have been teaching at Vandenberg
Middle School for five years now as a 7th Grade Language Arts teacher.
I've also taught 7th Grade Honors in English. We have much to cover
this school year. My focus will really be on writing since students
will take a state writing test this year. I want everyone to pass! With
this lofty goal in mind, I do try to make learning as enjoyable as
possible. We will use the skills and concepts we learn for games and
interesting activities as well as those tests, quizzes and writing
assignments that we all know and love.
About My Classroom...
Here is a miscellaneous list of important
information about my classroom and policies:
1.
Homework is posted on the board for the entire week on Monday mornings.
I give time in class to write it down. You can generally expect to see
spelling pages to complete, a small assignment that we will correct the
next day in class and a spelling test to study for each week. I assign
writing projects about every month and we will have four book reports
this year.
2. My homework policy is that I will give 1/2 credit if received by the
next day and IF we have not corrected it in class.
3. Assignments posted on my Homework Calendar can be made up for 1/2
credit as well. PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE!
4. Writing project, other projects and book reports can always be
turned in with a penalty of 10 points per day it is late.
5.
Tests and quizzes should be made up when you have been away from my
class. Always check the Assignments/Notes Binder at the side of the
classroom for work;check the handouts file and returned papers file too.
6.
Help is always available in my classroom on Thursdays at lunch and
other times may be arranged. I also give make up tests at that time.
7.
Sometimes I give credit for just doing an assignment. Sometimes I will
mark a V (check)++ that equals an A, a V(check) + equals a B, a
V(check) equals a C, and a V (check) - equals a D/F.
8. Percentages that I give as grades follow the typical scale of:
100-98 is an A+, 97-92= A, 91-90 = A-,
89-88
is a B+, 87-82 = B, 81-80 = B-,79-78 = C+, 77-72=C, 71-70=C-, 69-68=D+,
67-62=D, 61-60=D-, and anything below a 59 is an F.
9.
PLEASE HAVE THESE MATERIALS EACH DAY: paper, pen or a pencil, spelling
book, and A CORRECTING TOOL ( a pen that is not blue or black ink or a
colored pencil).
10. For the Vocabulary tests that
are every Friday, you must know the spelling and meaning of all the
words in the book, plus any additional words I might give. The tests
are cumulative so review ALL words each week.
11.
There is always a pre-lesson assignment at the left, front of the
classroom everyday so you always know just what to do when you come in
to my classroom.
